Whether you like or abhor the idea of dissecting, read an article or two about vivisection and post your thoughts, be aware that that these articles are slanted toward anti vivisection, which in no way reflects my own opinions. I just want to know your thoughts!

ReplyDeleteI read the article for the animals and nicotine. That is just horrible! You would think that they would stop after seeing that their experiments like this havent worked in the past, and that theyre wasting too much money on NOTHING. Its stupid,really. So, yeah. haha. ReplyDeleteVivisection is defined as "the act or practice of cutting into or otherwise injuring living animals, especially for the purpose of scientific research." I read a few of the articles and found it to be harsh and cruel. I am planning on pursuing a career in the medical field and I understand that they use animals to advance in medical research, but I just find vivisection a bit inhumane. The way it is described in most of the articles, it sounds like pointless torture that doesn't really benefit us, yet costs us quite a bit of money. The 'Fetal Nicotine Experiments' and the 'Maternal Deprivation' articles completely shocked me. I do believe that we can learn some things about the human body through animals, but I think that we should just stick to dissections and biotechnology.
ReplyDeleteThe article i read was the one about the animals and nicotine. I think what they are doing is disgusting. I mean if the experiement keeps failing over and over they should stop, because not only are they wasting so much money but they're huurting the animals. It's just dumb!!!

ReplyDeletei think that vivisection is wrong becouse animals can feel paine and we shouldnt disect them alive. disecting a dead animal should basically be the same as disecting a live one.
ReplyDeleteI read the article about animal experiments and nicotine and Im against it because its cruel that they can do these experiments on animals. animals deserve to be free not tested and damaged by some failure experiment. people should save animals because many of them are becoming extinct... Save the Animals peoples!
ReplyDeleteThe article i read was about scientists testing animals with nicotine.I am totally against vivisecting animals or making experiments with them.I like animals a lot so i really think that it shouldnt be aloud, they can maybe find something else to test on.They should leave animalalone because there are some species that are extinct so it would help alot if they stoped doing this..
ReplyDeleteWithout agreing or disagreeing, about the validity or humaneness of the experiments, I would have to question who wrote the articles, and what was their purpose. We need to carefully evaluate what we read and hear. Happy Blogging!

ReplyDeleteThe course of vivisection is totally inhumane, there is no doubt about that. The torture and sufferings of these animals truly would make us question the use of such experiments. On the other hand, this does help scientists understand the human body and what effects some things have on it. But I do believe that there are alternatives to conduct experiments to understand the human body. There really shouldn't be any more experiments done to animals. We are now in the 21st century and technology has developed a lot. There should be other means of experimenting instead of using animals.

I mean I understand that they are trying to further their research on the effects of nicotine, but why use the animals when apparently they can't find any answers. It said that has been decades and they "still have not properly addressed the problem of smoking during pregnancy". Also, they have spent so much money on this animal testing. You would think they would realize how expensive it has got and how many (animal) lives they have killed. The animals are getting hurt for no reason, it definitely needs to STOP :(
ReplyDeletevivisection is crazy. what they do in science amazes me. i understand its for the good of human society and all but wow. i think though its for the good rather than the bad. transformer quote "no sacrifice, no victory". i guess thats a good way to put it.
ReplyDeleteUsing vivisection for scientific research is inhumane. I specifically find what Eliot Spindel is doing at Oregon Health and Science University is a complete waste of money. How does someone expect to find the same results with a monkey as it would with a human being? The only reason it even has any type of funding is due to people’s lack of understanding what is truly happening during these experiments. We have yet to see any improvement or results that show that these inhumane experiments should continue. The articles that were provided to us made it sound more realistic on what truly happens to these animals during “scientific research”. In my opinion such experiments with animals should not continue.
ReplyDeleteI think vivesection is really wrong and horrible humans disgust me sometimes. We wouldn't want some animal testing on us so why should we do it to them.just chase they can't speak up doesn't mean anything.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion i think vivisection is a good idea. We need to understand the process of an animal structure while it is in action. As far as torturing the animal goes i don't think that is what is being done. I'm sure they give them something so there asleep and feel no pain or something of the sort. Its not like we don't kill animals everyday just to eat them...

ReplyDeletePersonally i think that vivisection is plain out inhumane. To me it is the same as animal cruelity. In my veiw it would be the same to lock a human up in a cage and cut them open against there will. It makes me sick to think that people would actually do that to a innocent animal, for medical research or not, its wrong.
